So as the obvious title to this blog suggests, Grey Goose has been provided with some new packaging courtesy Pentagram. I myself have never personally sampled this vodka, possibly due to the fact it’s ridiculously expensive, and with these tough economic times, you have to cut out the lavish extras. So, with this image of an upscale vodka in mind, did Pentagram accomplish what it set out to do? First off, what did it do?
Well, Pentagram has created three different packaging for three different levels of each rung of the economic ladder: “A single bottle of Grey Goose Original, a limited edition Flavours gift pack that contains a bottle of Grey Goose Original along with taster-sized bottles of the three flavoured varieties of Grey Goose, and a Grey Goose Baccarat gift box containing two limited edition Baccarat lead crystal tumblers.” That’s nice. One for Warren Buffett, another for Donald Trump, and the final for Bernie Madoff. Everyone gets a taste!
Well, out of the three, this one appeals to me. Still not amazing…but it’s tolerable…although, who wants to drink liquid metal?

Thanks to theDieline.com for the heads up!
If it were clean and simple it would give the impression that it is pure and refreshing, but the liquid metal texture is saying what? It seems like it wasn’t thought out much and is purely for visual satisfaction.
It does taste good though, as good as vodka can taste.
As a fan of Grey Goose, this packaging lends itself well to the oh so smooth taste of GG. I wouldn’t have thought liquid metal myself, but then again I really wouldn’t care what this bottle is packaged in…good vodka is good vodka.
It’s is a bit american eagle with the blue box and white bird sillouette, which is kind of a turnoff for me- it looks very ‘corporate but we’re trying to appeal to the kids.’ I like the old label -goose flying over lake- simple and elegant, it takes you to a simpler place of…geese…and vodka.
I agree that the old design was simpler and more refined. Less is more right? So the vodka is worth the price tag?
Neh, my friends dad drank it, and when they left for town he would leave us some vodka [ what a great guy! ] But I’d never pay for it. Vodka is vodka. I’ll spend $20 at the most, anything more, and I might as well buy something fancier. OOooo Patron.
